I am replacing the reservoir on the Ford power steering pump in my '75 GT. I have done this some years ago but cannot remember how to clock the reservoir on the pump. The manual says:

So where is the "notch in the flange"?

Ane where is the "plate and bushing assembly"?

So I'm thinking the inlet shroud in the reservoir must line up with this inlet slot in the pump. Then both should mount at the bottom in the pump cradle.

Checked it out with assembly. I was correct. The inlet shroud in the reservoir must line up with this inlet slot in the pump. This also locates the reservoir dipstick and fill tube to true vertical when installed in the Ranchero.
