    Hello,

I have a 1965 that I am rebuilding the front end on. I have decided to stay with the six cylinder front end BTW.

everything has been going great. I am replacing everything except the sway bar and the spindles.

I was putting everything back together when I removed the bolt that holds on the lower portion of my spring compressor. It popped off and the spring seat is canted. I won’t be able to get my shock on and I ant get the spring compressor back on either.
I tried to raise up the assembly by putting my floor jack under it and it is raising the entire car. The motor is out of the car, but I was able to raise and lower the old assembly with the motor out.

I read online yesterday to correct this I can loosen the upper arm and remove the bolt from the lower arm but it is still canter and can’t be raised by a floor jack. Can anyone on here please give me some assistance?

    thank you in advance

You could use a cutting torch to remove the damaged part? That would be my first approach to the problem. Be sure to protect yourself.

I have managed to get things sorted out. I was able to get everything back together after I put actual aftermarket bearing spring perches. They stayed straight after I removed the spring compressor tool. Everything is back together.

LOL -- you are allowed one mistake for each episode. I had similar problems with the '71 I used to own.
