On my 62 Ranchero I want to move the gas filler to inside the bed. I see several routes, but Im sure somebody has best results and advice. I can weld ok, but not sure about how to slice it, or whether reroute using rubber is best. Ideas please

I have seen seveal Rancheros over time with the gas filler located to the inside bed. I have considered this myself. Putting gas in the truck now is difficult and always a struggle . Still working on the best way to address this

Make sure you have a good vent (above the filler neck inlet) to the gas tank...THAT will solve most of the angst when filling as long as you don't try and go too fast....I have done that on all the Rancheros that I have owned (4) and it solves the problem with the stupid gas tanks Ford "repurposed" for their use....

So do you use a 2 way vent at the end of the line? I have the original open steel vent line that snakes up and down the rear fender, it releases gas smell

Well, since I took this pic I have relocated the vent higher up like the arrow shows...

I used the same vent, but mounted it inside the bed instead of in the fenderwell. Keeps the vapor from entering the cab.

The space where fumes can waft into the cab through the quarter panels I stuffed with foam rubber as a barrier. I works pretty good and the only time I notice any gas smell is when my tank is pretty full and going around right-hand curves "vigorously"... ;)
