Not really, but anything's possible. Are you hinting that prices might be falling due to a fear of how Obama's agenda might effect the economy?
I told my wife in August that I wouldn't be surprised if gas prices fell right before the election. And lo and behold, they did. She thinks I'm clairvoyant. It is in all of the politician’s best interest for that to happen. Jerks!
No - I just recalled thinking at the height of the gas price gouging season this past summer that I would bet it would drop dramatically around election time - and I really do suspect that there is manipulation of the prices, more so than is supported by the daily cost of a barrel of crude. Was just curious if anyone else finds it interesting that we have had an almost $3.00 Rancherobuck$$$ swing in gas prices in the last 6 to 8 months is all.
What surprises me is that the price was allowed to go back in some locations to $1.79 (and still declining). My thought was always that the prices were intentionally ratcheted up to condition the consumer to the high prices, so they could settle back into the mid two-dollar range and we'd learn to live with it. Heck, if it stays 'low' too long they'll lose their consumer high price acceptance they gouged so hard to get. My Festiva will sit and rot like Charlie if gas gets to $1.79 here and stays for a while. Durango-UP!
So, it's that evil genius George Bush at the controls again. He's so smart that I think we should make him "President For Life"! Seriously, I guess I can see how some folks could believe that, but I have to think that it could have been done more effectively if it was done for political benefit. I think it's just a natural reaction to the recent financial panic.
But it seems to happen (dropping fuel prices) right before elections. I'm not blaming no stupid, evil, puppet of a President, I'm just curious.
Absolutely not being done by the government, the manipulation -- if it is happening at all. The oil industry does seem to move out of the limelight at just the "right" times though. No claims of "wrong doing" really, just find it "interesting" in these circumstances. Anyone seen the cost of food drop due to falling transportation costs?
I'd love to see that reporter interview her in a year. We're finally below $2.50 2.46 where I'm at, 2.12 a couple miles away. Their having a price war there. This is one time I'd like to see a war spread over towards my house.
Well all three of my rides have a full tank of gas... The price is 1.99 in Woodland park, and its in the teens here in the springs... 2.29 for premium...... wooooooooooo hooooooooooo
Hmm, hadn't thought of that. Switching small aircraft to use CNG, Avgas prices drop to increase demand.... Check out my post on NASCAR. JD
Now, if I could fill up the Squire with the good stuff, then convince the people at the local airstrip to let me make a couple passes..........
I`m surprized it got below $2.50... I figured I`d never see that... I`m glad to see $2.29 Saw $2.06 yesterday up Atlanta way...
