i noticed when i get on the throttle in drive the car starts to miss.
i have a locking gas cap (replacement unit). if i lift the cap it hisses, like its relieving itself.
can this be the engine hesitation problem?

i thought ranchero gas tanks were vented?

next time i get it out, i'll drive it without the cap and see what results i get.

just wanted to know if you guys had similar problems.

They are vented. Depending on the year, it could be thru a charcaol cannister to the engine. Check for plugged canister or blocked line.

    Davis,
The gas tanks in our 67's are not vented. They require a vented gas cap in order to not pull a vacuum on the tank while running. I think they started using vented tanks and non-vented gas caps in 1970 as ome of the first stages of emission control.
Time to find yourself a vented gas cap.
