Hello, I contacted gaylord the other day and asked a few questions, anyway I was told they are going to make new lids for 72-79 models, and that they would love for someone to come by and help test fit one of the lids, I will continue to get more info about this and keep you guys/girls updated. Note: I believe the test fitting will be in the state of California. Hope you guys like the news.

Really? Doesn't seem to make good business sense to make those. Unless they can sell them for $2000 each or more. Who knows, maybe they can.

Not too too far from me, but my 78 is gone. Wish they made one for the 67.

alright, here is the deal they will sell one to the person who lets them test it for 800 and 1100 for the others primed. A few pics of the previous lid that they made for the 60 model.

Good luck with that. While they work fine on the earlier models, such hard lids are problematic at best on '72-'79 models.
The issue is the front. Either a "well" behind the window, or fixed part glued to the glass. Either option is a bad one, IMHO.

    -my $0.03 - YMMV

what I was told is that these are going to be mainly for show type cars, not really for outdoor cars but for the people with garages or that just like to take theirs to a car show it would look good.

That reduces their potential customers from 1,239 to 112, or thereabouts. ;)

The Gaylord cover is pretty cool, fits really wheel on the chero, has a drain channel in the front to catch any wanter that leaks in , has dual locks and is very stiff. I think I will pop for one.

Sounds identical to the one I got from them a couple years back for my 72. It is standing at the side of my shop as I have to shrink it now that my bed is shorter.
They are NOT watertight, even with the drain.

    Good news!

Thanks, "BillG", for taking the time to follow thru with the lead provided.

I would have gone, but up in Northern California. You definitely are MUCH closer!

I was hoping that Gaylord's would "re-pop" them someday for the '72-'79's.

When you get one, please post some pic's.

I have a "few" '72-79's" that "stay in a garage" while resting.

Thanks again to all for helping get this going!

On Craigs list you can see the first cover on my 72, they didn't expect the slider window so it was a little tight, they said they would shrink it down a little and they are ready to ship.

Could you supply the "link" to view? Where on C/L I have no idea to look.

    Thanks in advance.

any up dates and pics, I have a 74, would love to have one, would love to see how it would fasten up front at the back glass area. My ranch is outside but it stays covered, don't care if it is water tight. Just tired of all those snaps on the tauneu cover, plus they shrink over time. Do you know if it is lockable like the truck covers are.
