Which General is the real one? Mmm? My sister told me about this the other day. Her friends husband watched it happen while unloading his Dodge Ramcharger replica. From what I hear, the S10 was trying to show off, but lost it. The real shame is, nobody filmed it.
I agree, someone should have filmed it. The article claims it is a replica. I suspect Gilligan has the original hidden in a cave on his island. He probably has Mary Ann dress up in Diasy Dukes and they do whatever people their age can do at that point.
Mid 70's. Here is a pic of her from 2008 http://www.cbsnews.com/stories/2008/03/11/entertainment/main3926937.shtml
I moved the cursor over that link, but then chickened out. I couldn't click the mouse button. I want to remember Mary Ann as a mid-20's hot thang, not as someone who makes my Grandma look young. Thanks though.
His is one of the few show survivors. I've seen him drive it around the Waterford/Clarkston area a lot. He's always laying on the horn.
Over the coarse of the TV show there were 16 General Lees' built and used in the show. At any one time durning filming there were at least 3 General Lees' on the set. Most were wrecked and scrapped.
our mate pete has a 69 charger over here. it is not painted like the general lee but is the ugly as puke green/yellow they came out in. i think it is quite a rude looking car myself too long.
Although the estimated number of General Lees used varies from different sources, according to Ben Jones ("Cooter" in the show), as well as builders involved with the show, 256 General Lees were used to film the series. Others claim about 321 were used in the series. Approximately seventeen still exist in various states of repair. On average, more than one General Lee was used up per show.
Amen! I never liked the looks of those Chargers. In my opinion, the only good-looking cars Chrysler ever built were the early 70's Challengers and Barracudas. From the prices that some of the MOPAR stuff brings, obviously a lot of people think otherwise.
Awww Digg, it had a good reason to be so rude looking. It pretty much was designed shaped that way to be stable at speeds of 200MPH and up. I admit it is a garrish lookin' creature but I see something entirely different because I know what that funky shape let those cars do on the race track. Check out ( http://www.aerowarriors.com ) and be enlightened. Ford had their own ideas about rude too but they got killed early in their life when Ford pulled out of racing. Denny has seen Dad's King Cobra, one of Ford's Aero Warriors in person close up and I bet he'll testify it also is a rude beastie.
Lots'a tricky aero cars were out there Sean. Remember the Lagunas and what about those big body mid 70's Cutlasses the Allisons and Cale used to put a whoopin' on the big boys with ? All those older cars I used to ignore are lookin' mighty good to me now. Remember when the dealers couldn't give these away ?
Nope, not at all. I thought the King Cobra and Cyclone Spoiler were both beauties, not at all hideous like the Super Bird. That's an honest opinion that I would still have if I was talking to a complete stranger. Of course, that could be my Ford prejudice showing just a little......and for the record, I would gladly accept a Super Bird if someone gave it to me, even if it is hideous looking.
