Got my welcome to Tenn last week someone broke in to my house , stole my frig, tools, and tablesaw I was using up there. Got up there and got everything locked back up, and went to head back to Florida and found out someone had gotten my bank debit card number and cleaned me out. Bad weekend in Tenn for me.. And to top it all off Thursday night my jeep died on I-75 on way home... cpu I think... Bad week for me
That sucks Pursue the debit card issue with the bank, they may tell you that there is nothing they can do, but unless the person actually had the card and PIN, it is wire fraud and they can reverse transactions. If they didn't use the PIN at all, everything can be reversed and it becomes the banks problem. If they did use the PIN, look yourself in the eye cuz you know how it happened, and permanently remove the person who betrayed you from your life.
Could have been a skimmer that read it from his own input the last time he bought Skittles at the 7-11.
Sorry to hear that Dennis. Unfortunately we have lots of meth heads around here. In the area your house is located, it was probably one of them that stole your stuff. If the sheriff's dept. in Chester County isn't any better than it is around here you can forget about getting your stuff back unless the thief turns it in. Even then it would be doubtful.
Holy crap. Please, not another word about how bad the Detroit area is. I lived there 40 years and never had any of these problems. Wow. Hope you get your stuff back, Tully. Odds are against it though. Remember, though, the best advise you can get in a tragedy like this will come from some yahoo that belongs to an obscure car club forum (not you, Denny. You will always be 'the man')
Where did you get the idea that Tully was asking for advice? It looked to me like he was just venting his frustration. This is as good of a place as any that I know of for that, because we are all free to comment or just ignore it. Man, I hope you dog poops soon so you won't be so grouchy.
That, really suck, I just hope it stop's now, to many bad's in a row for you. As said here, it can only be better
Man, you forget one little smiley face around here Of course I was kidding. What's with you guys, being all serious, all the time. I was serious about you being 'the man', though. Carl is right; try Craiglist and pawn shops too, if you have time. Our janitor at my old job was stealing laptops from test rigs (at least we all assumed it was the janiltor). I found some guy on Craiglist selling laptops, showed it to my boss, who showed it to his boss, who called the cops. They set up a sting and caught the guy. My boss got a nice pat on the back for a job well done. I don't think this dog thing is going to turn out well today. Sucks too, we've had her longer than we've had my youngest child.
Sean, it's never fun when you have to give up a pet that has become a family member. Sometimes it's better to let them go. Be glad you had them as long as you did. Tully, please don't turn sour on your new homestead over the actions of some assholes. You need a trusted neighbor to run interference for you while you are out and about and be ready to do the same for them. Like Sean said, it ain't just in Detroit, it happens anywhere a place looks unattended for a few moments.
There you go giving advice again. When the time comes, I personally put down any animal I care for. They won't tell you or complain about their suffering, but if you know them it is easy to tell. In my opinion, keeping a suffering animal alive medically in order to avoid personal pain is cruel, so I won't do it. Done properly, even the womenfolk are OK with it. When my wife's cat got attacked by a dog it had broken ribs and was bleeding out of the mouth and eyes. I took my shirt off, wrapped the cat up, and broke it's neck. I told her it died in my arms, and that was a fact. With dogs, I feed them their favorite thing, then take them out to the woods. A bullet to the back of the head. The hard part is that no matter how hard you try, they know, but they go along with it because you have always done right by them. Damn it Sean, now there is something in my eye.
Agreeing with Carl is rarely good advice, though. I told the dog that when she can no longer get up the stairs, it is time. Anyway, she seems to be doing better. Ate a little today and then took a crap,...outside. That's another thing I told her. You start crapping in the house,..it's time. Her pain is something an aspirin seems to take care of. I hope you get your stuff back, Tully. If not, move to Detroit, or somewhere safe.
Hopefully the local cops can retrieve some of your belongings, and yeah, neighbors looking out for neighbors generally works good... Around our house we keep watch over each other... It`ll get better, can`t get much worse, huh?, D
@ Tully ... dunno if it would have helped in your case, but here I have always gone to some effort to make it look like the house is occupied, whether we are away for an hour or a week. Lights on multiple timers, radio or tv left on, and a car parked in front of the garage door. No way to know if that actually deterred any thief, but so far none have come inside the house. Have lost some minor stuff from the front yard.
I hate to say this, but I have never encountered a situation that could not get worse. I do hope him the best, though.
True. He'll be fine. There is always a 'worse', until the last one. What if he drove off the road into ditch, hurting himself, after getting robbed? That'd be worse. Or, if he found out he was robbed, then was hit in the head by a meteor? That'd be worse.
