    You didn't miss a thing.
I had a bit of trouble adapting to this place. Quickly found out that if a couple of guys drinking at a bar wanted to get a bit of exercise out in the parking lot that it was an automatic trip to the tank even if friends. Also, if a guy turns you around and gets in your face and you lay him out and return to playing dice with your friends without even getting off the bar stool the cops haul you off rather than thanking you for teaching proper bar etiquette. You also can't put a guy in a dumpster after another roadie tunes him up for being in the equipment truck.
I suspect had you spent time here we might have run into each other downtown.

Yeah, it's a possibility. I guess the closest I got was the first time I drove a non-descript older Ford into Gross Pointe to see my future wife. What you drove constituted your financial status in the gestapo's eyes back then and I looked like I severely didn't belong . Finally got one cop to call her Dad but they still escorted me to his house, hillbilly Tennessee tag didn't help matters at all. Drove new Lincolns from then on and didn't even get a sideways glance. Bet there are neighborhoods like that in your area too.

Used to be. now even the best areas are crawling with the beaters that the wetbacks drive. They don't have license or insurance so they drive things they don't mind losing when they get pulled over.
On the other side it happens though. They see this white boy in some parts of town and figure the only reason I could be there is to buy drugs. Been pulled out and had my arms and legs searched for needle marks and the drill where 3 different officers ask me the same questions in different order then check notes. The Oakland Housing Authority has me do lighting repairs, so i often need to be in the projects at O-dark thirty to asses the lighting conditions.
Back when Billy Bentpecker was Pres he was supposed to visit the Lockwood project in East Oakland. Every day I went there at 4AM, made notes of the lights that had been shot out and had a crew there at 6 to fix them. Went on for 20 days.
