Sorry for off-topicking, but I have a Magnetron story....

First off, a Magnetron is a magnet, with an amplification cavity in the center, which has tuning plates for changing frequency. So, suffice it to say, you do not put anything iron-based within a foot and a half, nor do you move it to within a foot and a half of anything iron-based. On a Navy ship, this presents a bit of a problem. You see where I'm going with this?
Anyhow, Fire Controlman Second Class Richie is tasked with swapping out the Magnetron on one of the radars in System Two. We submit the DD-1348, snag the drum containing the tube, and haul it to Sys 2. He opens it, removes the tube, and baby carries it, through a thick blast door, into the radar transmitter cabinet room, in the director sponsor. So, to get in, you have to step over the bottom coaming of the door, which is 14" high, past the door, then pull your other foot in. Well, as Richey stepped in with his lead foot and leaned through the doorway, we heard a loud CLANG...the tube had yanked itself from his grasp and attached itself to the steel of the blast door! And, once the magnet has been struck with ferrous metal, it loses half its magnetic strength! IIRC, the tube's cost was big--like eighteen grand in 1988! Which means our budget took a big hit that quarter.

I remember once loading mine about 6 inches higher than the bed sides with concrete blocks and bags of sackrete. Bottomed out the rear suspension, lucky I didn't break something under there. Now the big heavy loads that are at least once a year get done in at least two trips. No pictures here

 

Wont be making any trips to the dump for a few months. My 67 rancheros old c4 transmission went out so it's not earning it's spot in the carport. It happened after hauling some stuff to the dump for my brother... I just thank god it went out in my back yard putting up my trailer... lol, it only has reverse now so I was able to back thru the yard and backed it in the carport.....lol

 

Bummer, but lucky location. My recommendation- T10 4 speed conversion!

 

Try Lucas Transmission Fix, it might give your tranny just enough life to enable you to move the vehicle around when needed. Years ago, it enabled me to defer a rebuild for over 2000 miles.
