    All,

I have a 1961 Ranchero with a 144cid and column shift M/T. Just finished rebuilding my carb, but I had to cobble two together.

Trouble is, one had a dash pot, one did not (both have the boss tapped for one).

So my question is this: did the stock carburetor on the ‘61 models have a dash pot installed?

thanks for any information you can provide!

Brad. I think a dashpot is more for a vehicle with an automatic transmission, but I don't know about what yours came with from the factory.

Actually, wasn't a dashpot an early form of throttle control, keep the engine from dying when you closed the throttle?

Well, this one has been M/T from the get-go, and had no dashpot on the carb when I bought it, so that might be the connection (I have *no* information on the vehicle the donor carb came from; I bought it at Carlisle a few years ago).
