It seems I saw a member looking for a headers solution not long ago for a 77-79 351M or 400M. A dozen years or so ago I had a problem finding headers that would fit my 1974 400M and found Hooker Super Competition the only solution, but pricey at over $600 at the time (from Summit). Today I came across a used set on Facebook Marketplace. The asking price is $150 which seems very fair as long as they are in the described condition and the flanges are straight, not warped. Posting the link here if anyone is interested. https://www.facebook.com/share/p/P1hWdAvkdG6HAaZq/?mibextid=79PoIi
I remember that thread (I had had a set that I had sold to the OP back then). Somewhere on my defunct, but not broken, laptop, I have a pic of the Hooker factory tag with the actual part number. Has anyone ever "repaired" a set of headers' flanges by platen grinding the flange, then welding another correctly-shaped piece of flat stock to make the flange thicker?
I looked up the Hooker part number I purchased back in 2007. It’s HOK-6125. I also looked closer at the Marketplace ad and see the set being sold there is for a Windsor, not Modified so they probably don’t interchange. My mistake on the application but still a good deal for the right engine.
I have a 77 Ranchero GT and am currently having this problem. I have a 400m under the hood. Any advice or part numbers would be extremely helpful.
