So - In my former life - I was a high school band director. I still play my trumpet, and have been playing with the Nashville Wind Ensemble since 1997.

Last week at rehearsal - one of my friends comes in the band room and points out that there is "Hybrid Parking" outside. Of course - I had to check it out. That sort of stuff really gets me going - so, I got to thinking that this was a great photo-op.

I was left with a decision. I had to find an appropriate vehicle to park in a reserved “Hybrid Parking” spot.

    What do you look for?

Me? I look for something that has a carbon foot print of a small third world country or a global sub-standard corporation. It’s important that you find a vehicle with a much horsepower as it has cubic inches. You really should find a vehicle that when you start it – a baby seal goes into respiratory distress OR at the very least leafs fall off trees. When the engine idles – a polar bear should ideally stress because the ice he’s sitting on is getting smaller and he won’t be able to drink his Coca-Cola.

Where do I find this??? Thanks to my good friend Jim – the best selection was…

    A 1971 Ford Ranchero GT that has a 429 “Cobra Jet” V8

Nothing says "green" like a good old J code Ranchero (My H-code is down for repairs)

As an evil conservative – it’s my *duty* to make wise vehicle choices. Together – we can fight global warming…. 10 mpg at a time.

Due to the fact a Ranchero is truly a hybrid(half car, half truck), seems appropriate enough for me:D

We were getting ready to leave and I thought "I wonder if it leaked?" - a friend says... "I'll get a flashlight!" - I pulled it forward, and we all fell out laughing.

This got a lot more laughs than I even thought it would.

Nobody sprayed it with "Free Tibet" or splashed fake blood on it - so, that was a good thing... especially since it was borrowed. ;)

Andy, your truck's not leaking, it's just marking its territory.

HA! Remember - it's not for us... being "green" is for the baby seals.

I have to admit - it's my friends ride... I borrowed it. It's what prompted me to buy my 71 - his is much nicer.

I remember when they made it illegal to club these things. Dang, now they're everywhere.

How about two sets? My Durango would be happy to oblige, although that's too far to drive to do that.

Absolutely not! Do it! That is prove it is a hybrid! It burns gas and rubber!

If as ranchero qualifies as a "car/truck" - burning gas and rubber would work as well!

    Fight tha man!!!
