yep believe it or not...I'm not lying..I HAVE made SOME progress..uhh just slower than the molasses in January.. and a long way to go...I know I know...the purists hate it..but i think the seats match my doorpanels rather nicely.. and the instrument cluster (has a red insert from a cougar) and are incredibly comfortable.. still doing some floor work.. but its nice to be able to drive the old guy around again..
Excellent looks! What are those seats? I'd like to upgrade mine. Are they going to use the original slides, or ?? And how will you deal with those two shoulder belts, that is, attaching them to the body?
no name chinese specials from ebay.. $250 shipped to my door as I recall.. used summit aluminum racing mounts.. after studying the floor pan was able to use preexisting reinforced holes.... some already had spots for the knockouts... am going to document this more closely on the passenger side for you guys. There are actually already 4 mounting points in the 74-79 model.. two where the retractor assembly went on the floor.. .one in the roof pillar..and then one on the hump..so the 4points bolted right up..just had to adjust them to fit snugly.. thanx for the compliment.. have the carpet and such ready to put in...just wanna make the floor right... seal..soundproof..then carpet.. time is a problem for us all..have even less with all my yard cleanup... at least 10 trees to be stripped and stacked for removal..ugh...there goes my weekend... ah..but it could have been soooo much worse.. no fatalaties in Macon...just one in Dublin. Cheers BB.. im out.. gotta a Softball game to hobble through..
Looking good HR, is that leather seats, i'm going to paint baby blue black and orange and put in some seats like yours and need matching colors, but I think I go for some used Mercedes or BMW and redo the leather with some orange inserts. They will be electric adjustabel (with memory). And to copy you some more I will also do some orange on my doorpanels. I have already ordered the white intrument, and are going to change the speedo to KmH.
dunno the material G.. something very breathable.. its sorta pebbly perforated....not really sure..just hope its durable copying is the sincerest form of flattery so copy away.. ...I may eventually go to 72 gt style hardside door panels..black...and do the insert in red to match...but those hardside doorpanels are $$$$$$$$ but theres plenty of time..I like them better than the fiber board ones I have now..but at least they go with the rest of the interior
Lookin` Good!!! You`re doing a GREAT Job there, Rob... I was in Macon this morning fer a meeting, but didn`t have time to hook up with ya... That tornado went and tore up some things huh??? I`m really glad it missed y`all... (you may now return to your topic...)
nice!! looks brand new from the seats forward... im looking forward to having new CLEAN carpet... ahhhhh can't wait.. Yep D...did you see what the storm did to macon state college?? check it out next time if ya can...what a mess!!! I was in cochran anyway..only been home a little while.. beat... im goin to bed...
just some updating on my s-----------l----------o---------w progress... Used these preexisting holes to mount my bucket seat brackets for late model buckets... note use of the original bench seat stud...then 3 speed nuts in the appropriate holes..thanx Dan/72GTVA Just had to punch the factory knockouts and voila..easy money.. note this hole is preexisting but not originally intended for a seat speed nut The black coating is brush on truck bed coating from duplicolor...$14 a can..and covers quite nicely... used after I made minor floor repairs
these are in progress pics laying down sound mat... stuff is ok... was a lower end product...i dont recommend trying to stick it upside down for the roof or the portion of the bed in the cubby....while sticky...it doesnt hold up to heat well enough to trust it for that. This stuff has almost no odor..and what little it did have faded after a day or two.. I've finished most of the mat installation now...double layered the hump which seems to be the source of the most heat as far as i've been able to tell.... looking into having the windshield replaced (its not broken just pitted)... before FINALLY putting in the carpet...
cool!! what a great job mate!! looks like you are gunna race that little beauty from the look of those seats, or are they just "cool"? my husbands son has those seats in his car (nissan cefironot a ford). he likes to drive fast (drifting?) and just decided to take it on the track cuz it will be cheaper than all the tickets and impounds. silly boy racers. i dig it
in case your interested Robert.... I have the red vinyl that matches those seats.... I had almost bought those.... then I saw the reversed.... great minds think alike
I would be VERY careful with those seats. Bucket seats that arent made properly can kill you in an accident. They can facture in an accident. Just my $0.02
Except reversed! Don't worry about the safety of the seats too much. As long as you have a good 5-point to keep your carcass from bouncing around the interior.
old but good comparison here Cooter.. it depends on how much you can stand to spend... I got 100sq ft of Fatmat delivered to my door for $129 Some of the other stuff is cited to stick better but costs about $300 for the same amount... http://www.sounddeadenershowdown.com/ i never want to see rust on my floor again..
He's a bit heavy for racing but some day I'll take him down the 1/4 Dig... motor plans are in the works..but its a couple of years off yet... its mostly about comfort and security..and frankly..LOOKS! ok..so Im shallow...Im a man "oink"
thanx kid I'll keep that in mind when I focus on the rear cover... I've always thought the way you did your's was kewl...but may be beyond my skill level..
yeah..i was on pins and needles a bit until they came in a couple of years ago...ended up they came from the same place as summit gets theirs....seem to be well built... no complaints YET!! and I feel pretty secure with my 4 point belts... Thanx for the advice...good advice is always welcome....I actually feel more secure in that seat than the old bench...not because that heavy thing would ever break...but because your butt slides all over the place when you drive...even with the factory 3 point retractables..
