Has anybody ever dealt with Junkyard Parts Locator? I kept getting calls from people who sounded like they were from India which makes me really nervous.
I gave up on using them. Could barely understand what they were trying to say, not sure if those people were overseas or if they were millenials from here who barely speak English. I now go to local yards who have access to hot-line parts finders that send photos and guarantee the condition of their parts. Thankfully, nearly all the things I search for are located less than a day's drive so I go in person to check them out before any cash trades hands.
It varies. Most Rancheros that end up in the yards here are already picked over. I will keep an eye out anyway. Even a blind hog finds an acorn eventually.
Congrats, that was a long hunt. Funny how you cant find items, then all the sudden turn up all at once.
All is well, though dealing with all the winter crap Minnesota throws at us. Shipping is all over the the place in cost, so local probally best. Always looking for parts cars close by, not much pops up this way though. Don't need much, but would do a part out for others if something comes up. Hoping to start some reassembly early next year, little more painting of parts left, rust prevention then, and finish chassis and slide back under the body. Scored a NOS set of tailihgts never installed a couple weeks ago just by luck on ebay. Best price I could find locally for repair and chrome is 300 per tailight, found this set for 395. stuff does come in spurts so always looking and passing on finds, Ill cross power window parts of the list, glad you found them. Maybe we should have bought Mustangs!
That's the problem with us--we don't have the loose lucre to just say "to Hell with the cost, ship it," and sit back for it to show up. But that's the way things are going. And, Rick, don't think for one second Mustangs would be any easier. They've been disappearing as much as all the others. I had shipped a rear bumper to Dave Reginek, man that was a PITA to get done. But for him to have a usable bumper, he had to pay the ferryman. Darned near $300 for me to pull, do the runaround with FedUp, then packing it myself and shipping it from the UPS Store.
