I have modern 05 GT Mustang.
I enjoy that. Looking for a project car/truck, like my old days of restoring a classics. And i like the 70/71 ranchero the most. but do enjoy the others.

So welcome to the forum; the 70-71 is a very stylish version of the Chero, and many members here have good to deep knowledge, not to mention just how many 70-71 rigs are here.

    Hi Bob and welcome. :)

I'm relatively new here myself and have found this place to be a mine of information. So much so that I don't really post much as every question I have about my truck has been answered somewhere by people who know, so I don't feel the need to request information which is already out there.

I too like the 1970/71 models, owning a fairly modified 1970 myself.

Good luck if/when you do get one and, as mentioned earlier, this forum will hopefully have all the information you need.

So, How do i decode a Ranchero?
i know vin tag is either driver door, dashpad.
is there vin code under the hood as well?
like so of the Mustang /Cougars?

i seen only 1 around here at 174,000 on it. 302 original 2bbl. single exhaust he said.
no disc brake, no ac, red bench seat and dash.
not a GT hood nor sport mirrors on doors.
    said to have good body.
power steering is bad of the control valve..
he jsut got the truck from the guy who owes him money.
so that seller jsut did tune up.
but stuck regarding to the power control vale.
    at that many miles.
    i wodner of gear box
to linkage to hsoes and pump.
    as well the whole truck.

it may be a base model.
we did not see any woodgrain inside.
selelr said it was original green.
    oh my!
has a GT emblem in grille.
square opening is which year ?
i forgot what year of 70 is what shape of opening vs the 71 grille opening.
so alot of part swapping happen here.

    so need to find out.
    okay what body part
    was green?
back of truck or floor board?
    or a fender or hood
    was green?

said wiper do not work neither nor the radio.
he not sure cluster light up.
    asking 4500.
    which i assume is high.
for sale all summer price slide down from $5250 now 4500.
oh, 1 side in rear has rust in arch wheel well.
33% of passenger side is black primered onto roof partly .
of that passenger door rear passenger to tail panel is black.

    rest is red paint.
    so any wisdom.
where to look for hidden rust and eletrical issue to what else?
he said to put in new windshield too.

    tires are so so.
aftermarket alloy rims. not in pictures.
so no clue what they are.
    original selelr kept the rims
is why this selelr bought aftermarket
    used rims/tires.
other rims may be Magnum 500.

so i hope to know who that selelr is
and find out more about this 71 Ranchero
non GT. is that original 71 motor
or quick swap of 80ish low compression 302. or 5.0 is wording he said.
    disc brake add on
would be the plan. ac may be impossible.
    i do like red though.
but do not want to rush in.
since finally price slid down a bit.
and barely any optional values here.
and what hiding under the black primer.
does Ranchero has torque boxes like the Mustang has?
    they often get rotted out.
    for water goes in
but has no way out of the box.

I use to own 65 fastback, 67 GTA mustang coupe. King cobra , 84 T top GT mustang.(hated that tiny car).
yet red on red i like alot.
that king Cobra was basket case. but finally let it go. parts is scarce on King Cobra.
that too is a Tiny car too.
oh had a 68 cougar once upon a time as well.
the Xr7 is better. but i needed more elbow room.

and thought of 69 70 mustang cougar
    but prices
    gee whiz.
    so let look at Ranchero.
it be fun and useful to own a truck.
    never own a truck.
