Or the VIN, which belongs to a '67 Comet 2-door sedan, (body code 01). Plus, it was built in Lorain, Ohio (H), not Canada. (or at least the car that the VIN came from was)

I believe that '58 may have been the only year for the Meteor Rancheros. I think I postd something about one for sale a while back.

These were, of course, sold at the "Mercury, Meteor, Monarch" dealers as the old ads used to say.

What Sean forgot to tell you that the Pontiac versions of the Chevelle were actually called Acadians; Beaumonts being the more deluxe version; SD396's being the hottest! the SD was "Super Duty". Yes, the Pontiacs sold in Canada were built on Chevy frames, with Chevy motors. The RCMP freeway cars that I remember were Pontiacs with 427's and 4 wheel disc brakes.

The only real problem the Acadian guys struggle with is lack of parts, especially the trim pieces for the Beaumonts.

The 50's Pontiacs built in Canada have the shorter Chevy frames, so the front sheetmetal is shorter than the US versions. Creates all sorts of difficulties for those guys looking for the correct parts if they don't know where the car was built.

In the case of this Comet Ranchero I think I would be looking for some kind of seam through the floor and windshield posts where they probably used a Comet to build a totaled Ranchero. That would explain the Merc title with a Ranchero body. Registration offices back then weren't as strict so changing the body style discription would have been easy.
