I feel better now! I did verify the pump rods existence and placement. I am sure that will be an interesting story. LOL... I have an old dizzy that I will sacrifice for the cause.

Yeah, mill the teeth off the driven gear, and cut/ mill the top end of the shaft to fit a 3/8" drill (but 1/2" is preferred) and drop it in on top of the drive shaft.

The sacrificial distrib... removed the drive gear, welded a rusty old metric socket to it, and spun it with a drill. Got about 40PSI for a few minutes. Should be good!

There you go! All set on fire-up! You know, you could take the sender out and replace it with a calibrated gauge, just to get real numbers on the break-in run.

    WHAT!?!?!?! LOL!

I bought one and right now its hanging on a bolt of the shock tower... :) I may go ahead and install it somewhere under the dash, just as a back up, and peace of mind.

With my cordless drill running in reverse (counter clockwise) I was only able to get about 20PSI... switched to a electric drill, got about 40 PSI. Should be ready to rock now... Finally got a set of alternator brackets, so alternator is in, with belts. Should be ready for break in.

did you do a compression check? that would also help with verifying the valve lash and pushrod length.

To have everything go right, up till the engine start, shows possible possession. Not to be confused with repossession, of course.

I think it is possessed... got the new fuel pump installed, and fired the engine. Went ahead an hooked up a Tach, and vacuum gauge. Vacuum was at a steady 25 inches, Oil Pressure was at 50. Decided to go ahead and break in the CAM. Got about 10-15 minutes into it... and it over heated... UHG... Seems to be running strong though... a little 200 rpm surge, but haven't set the dwell, timing, or tuned the carb yet.
