OK Davis... back in August you asked me about finding the exhaust manifolds... and I replied...

Now I have to ask... how long did you giggle and say to yourself "He'll figure it out!"

experiencing that moment when you realize that not all is as it appears! :(

    :D

Dearborn Classics has the manifolds $$$$$... have been keeping an eye out at the swap meets. They also have the wheel centers, plain or GT. I have a set of the plain...

Friday I was on my way to Portland for a meeting, when the Machine shop calls me... "we found a hairline crack on the main"! I was devastated! So much for my matching numbers car... now the search is on for a date code correct block. This sucks! :(

On the better side, the body shop is getting busy on the body and paint.

9D25 is on my block - So to be absolutely date code correct, it would need to be on dated after Dec 26, 1968... but it could have also been dated before

    According to http://www.fordification.com/tech/castingnumbers-FEblock.htm

    C8ME

I think I found one dated early 68, its just a matter if I can get him to let go of it.

    Thanks in advance

I am not going to trash this block... 20 years ago, they couldn't repair the skirt. Who knows what will be available in even 5 years... This crack is very fine, and as you are looking at the mains, this crack runs down both sides of the bolt hole on the right side of the number 2 main... which is where the initial explosion of rods took place. They are making pretty good strides in repairing this stuff, with pressurized argon, and such. Maybe down the road, I can make it back into the matching numbers car.
