Here some pics of the unfinished, unstarted interior and the engine compartment. Has any noticed the body mods on the car. there are a few that are obvious but some are not.
So I finally start to wet sand the thing today. It coming out good now on to the buffing. After hearing what yall said about the boss idea I went back to the drawing board. Here is what I cam up with tell me what you think?
the stripe on this 71 works.................i like how it tapers off http://www.ranchero.us/forums/showthread.php?t=29266
I like the shaved dorhandles and the antenna hole, other than that i'm not sure, but I has a 72, is there anything done with the bed moulding to And the new stripes looks much more right
Since had my car has never been together enough to even have seat belt my question is does a 71have three point seat belts or just two point?
does a 71have three point seat belts or just two point? >scbarger +++++++++++++ It's three points; one at each side at floor level, and one just below the rear window line behind your shoulder. If you are thinking of a shoulder belt for the middle passenger [bench seat?] -- then no, no provision for the middle passenger. When you do go to buy new belts, you'll have to spend a few minutes figuring how to rig it; on the stock belts, the shoulder belt was a separate piece that had a clip-on gizmo to connect it to the main seat belt -- not a happy arrangement. Nobody really wore seat belts in 1971 -- mostly for show in that era.
Thank you Bush I have put buckets in my car so I got to figure out what to do maybe for now just do a lap belt. As far as installing the head liner is it glued any where or just pushed into the different trim pieces? Back window was removed a long time ago and never installed back all the way The question is do I need to put window mastic in both groves or just the one going to the body? I am thinking both but I just want to make sure.
I have seat belts that not working, the cops stopped me and gave me a fine of 300$ for no belt. hmm later that day the tranny burned so an expensive day, so has to rebuild it now. But no time now, rigging manager for the offshore powerboat world championship here in my hometown, take a look www.ngpoffshore.com
The rear of the Headliner is glued around the body window opening. the rear widow gasket helps hold it on. The front leading edge of the headliner is glued and tucked into a toothed piece of metal and trimmed off with a plastic moulding. The front left and right corners of the headliner have a small plastic trim that covers the headliner/ pillar transition. The sides of the headliner are glued around the body, trimmed and then a pinch weld is pushed over to trim it off. If you havent ever done a headliner before, this is a fairly easy one to do. If you need any pointers let me know. Good luck, Mitch.
That helps but still not sure how the headliner and the corner material join. I have the metal triangle that is popping through there but I think mine is facing the other way.
That panel underneath the coat hook is a separate piece from the headliner. The headliner goes in first, then the rear panel goes on overlapping the headliner. It is not actually connected to the headliner itself. Here are a couple videos that might help you out. http://www.upholster.com/auto/headliners-installation.html http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b1j8QbkHLZc
I swear that was bigger before I uploaded it -- trying again. Dear Moderator: something whacky is happening with uploaded pics -- both those little pics of mine are 640x433 on my disk, but they are cut by about a third each way in the upload process.
