    This coming Wednesday, Dec 14.
Too soon. I was really hoping to be in the hospital over Christmas. Now I will be home before that.
Assuming it all goes as planned.

I have to get busy and get some stuff done around the house. My wife is disabled a bit and can't do certain things, so I have to try to get all that sort of stuff done before Wednesday and hope it doesn't need done again for a bit.

We'll talk to you when you get out; and remember, treat the nurses the way you wish to be treated.

Borrow a laptop if you don't have one so you can stay in touch. Most hospitals have WiFi.
Ask the docs if you can livestream the operation so we can watch.

I watched the C section of my youngest son. Offered the Doc my pocket knife even.
I don't know what the big deal was, the knife was sharp.
Anyway, thanks to that, I could do the job if the need came up, and I always have my pocket knife on me.

Yup, compassionate, personal health care on a budget.
When my daughter dislocated her toe, I said 'let me look at that' and gave it a yank, popping it back in place before she had time to contest the idea.

Dang, thought I had updated this, but guess it was during the recent down time.

No video, I didn't/don't even want to hear the details of the surgery.

Surgery went well I'm told. Recovery is going about as bad as I had expected. It will work out in the end, but getting there is going to be rough.
    Been home a week tonight.
Pain isn't bad, but I developed serious panic/anxiety attacks after the surgery that effects my breathing and that is keeping me from getting much sleep.
Been doing the walking stuff using a walker in front of my house, and just had my first physical therapy session today. Man, I am really out of shape now. All the professionals say this is expected, but I honestly didn't expect it to be this bad.
But getting a decent nights sleep would work wonders. I can't even lie down. Oh, well.

I wish I had gotten all of the chores around the house done on my before the surgery list. I didn't, and am paying for it now.

    Thanks all.
    Russ

Yeah, man, I had to go through a year because of insurance/DSHS/SSA, etc. in order to get my pacemaker/defibrillator implanted, and doing anything, even just standing, was nearly impossible. I know what you're thinking, you don't like looking like a slacker, but you should consider just putting pride aside and asking for assistance to do the strenuous stuff. I had met a kid I'm mentoring in basic automotive repair, and in return, when I could not do much of anything (and was taking a bunch of cardiac drugs before I got my PM), he was my 'effort.' It pained me to not be able to do things, but in having that assistance, it bought me time to start the healing process, and three years later, I'm doing more on my own. Heal well. Don't push yourself into further damage to your heart. Give yourself time and the exercise and activities you do, you do in and even-handed way.

One day at a time, just keep thinking that. And now that this site will be a bit stronger/more reliable, I'm sure some of us will usually be around to say hi!
