Too Coooool!!!! I'd love to go to it wherever it is . but both coasts {east and west} have a large number of members, a cross country trip is a big undertaking , maybe the middle would be best {of course my decision isn't based because i'm in texas} i've organized a number of M/C rallys and it's always best someplace where the scenery, and the roads are nice ,motels are available and the local population is receptive to a large group of outsiders...........ray
Guess where I voted??? Midwest - ha ha, fooled you! More central for those that don't think their Rancheros can make a long trip...
Where ever it is going to be have it near a Drive-In Movie Theater and incorporate a night at the Movies in the Rancheros. You might even pick the Movie to Run such as Bullet, or the original Gone in 60 seconds.
well I think more central in the states.... however I actually think COLORADO is a good choice heheheh
the drivein sounds good and the original "gone in 60 seconds" would be too cooool. it's so much better than the sequel, bullitt would be a good one too......ray
I voted Fla. Just because it`s the closest...AND there were only th four choices... I think that central location idea, would be the best...
I said Florida because the weather will be good no matter what time of year it's held. Plus, there are tons of things to do other than just sit around and look at our cars. Trips to the shore can be made, cruises to Pensacola, Destin, Panama City...depending on the time of year a meet can be lined up with local shows.
Smoky Mountains sound good to me. Nice mountain roads. I could do a mid-west run, but we'd have to give enough notice for people (those of us rebuilding motors ) so we could have our rides ready. Needs to be a place with some decent roads. Not just straight for miles on end (Kansas )
Memphis. Beale Street, real BBQ, DF in attendance with a running Charlie Brown, what could be better?
Should we shoot for 09 and give everybody time to plan???? Dennis still has his Southeast meet every year in the South!!
Perhaps... Perhaps an '09 plan would work better for some folks, and there certainly isn't anything barring anyone from setting up something "regional" if they care to do so.
As much as I would like to see it held nearby, I would hate to see many of our members robbed and/or shot. I hate to say it but I wouldn't recommend Memphis for a nuclear waste dump. Seriously, unless you want to gamble in Tunica or visit Graceland, there's nothing to do in Memphis. I agree with Robert. Somewhere near the Smokey's would be a central location for most people located east of the Mississippi and in Foristell. I would like to see a successful national meet, but even if a central location was chosen, I have to wonder how many people would drive their Rancheros more than 1000 miles. I know I wouldn't, even though I would like to meet some of our West-coast friends.
I think a national roundup is a great idea, but as I said before, you have to give time for people to plan, save their money, time off from work, etc. We had basically 6 months planning for Carlisle and that event was already setup. I also agree with Denny. A 1000 miles is a LONG way to drive a 30+ yr old truck, and that's one way. Some of us would have a 1000 miles to drive back home. That's an good 4 day round trip. I'm in for what ever the board would like to do just give us all time to prepare besides, I can't miss the Southeast Ranchero Roundup Chili Cookoff! Well, i reckon I could being I'm gonna win anyway!!!
Guys I also had to ADD Carlisle PA as any member who was at our last meet can tell you ITS A MUST SEE once no matter where you are from. Its worth the trip from anywhere as I believe it is the Largest Car Show in the USA.
urrr...just looking at a purely centralized POV...why not Kansas?? we can all show up with some "Toto" blasting from the speakers... "ninety-nine.... "
Ya know... Hawaii is really nice year 'round. They have two weather forecasts that each last 15 seconds and change twice each year depending on the tradewinds. My Blue Ranchero has been there and LOVED it, wouldn't mind going back!!! (Now that it is a different color and I'm sure HPD has forgotten about that car after all this time, and it really wasn't my fault, well mostly not...)
