Hello, I am new here and this is my first Ranchero though I have built many cars and had at least 200, most of them cool cars. This car has been painted and a 4 link rear and a Heidst Mustang II front crossmember installed w/ mounts welded in for a mod motor, The person who started this project is deceased and the car has been kicking around for several years and as a result lots of parts are missing and I hope people on this forum will be able to help. I have a 2017 Gen II Coyote and 6 speed, there is lots of room in the front so I am using the rad/fans/condenser from a 21 GT For some unknown reason the trans tunnel and firewall were butchered so I was able to get that part from the S550 and am installing that, the rear trans mount, shifter and drive shaft all attach to this so I have the engine on the front mounts and the tunnel bolted to trans mount so everything will be spaced correctly, The engine came with a nice set of SS headers and down pipes and is complete, it came with all the harness, ecu and throttle pedal but I plan on using the Ford Stand Alone system. The car has a 4 link rear but for some unknown reason they put all of this work into a 7.5 rear axle from a 94 V6 Mustang with 2.73 gear, I could fix this mess but have decided to go w the entire rear suspension from another GT with the 3.73 ratio, this should be pretty cool. I will post some pics an soon as I can figure out how to do it.
Welcome. Sounds like a heck of a project, though has some nice stuff in it already. Good luck and post the pics.
Hello & Welcome. I also have a 66 Ranchero, base model, that I rescued from a field in Oregon last year. My largest issue was replacing the entire front suspension, & some minor engine work on the 347 V8 that the 2nd owner put in it. Seems You have your work cut out for you. Pics would be great!
It is a pretty good project, the biggest part of it will be welding in the fire wall and the floors, tomorrow I am pulling the engine and trans back out so I can start the sheet metal part of the project.
You have come to the "right site" for Ranchero knowledge David from Daphne, Alabama! I had a good friend that lived there for over 20 years before he passed away a year and a half ago. Mike Mann was his name, Anyway good luck on your Ranchero project!!! & WDE!!!!!!!!!!!
