Yes a lot of frame work. Rear mounts for lower arms rotted out of frame. I also needed for 18" tires to fit inside of wheel wells made 4 link set up so i can adjust for front load. I narrowed the 9" 6" each side 355 gears spooled. So i also had to take 8" out of spring/shock mount cross member.

Just got her out of the shop today, cleaned out the tank, replaced the sending unit/pump and fuel lines and had them do a general tune up.

    running MUCH better.

now to return the HEI dist. and wires, will be replacing the carb with a 2150 from summit.

working six days a week in sales blows, I want to do this myself but have no time to devote to it right now, and need to have her running smoothly for a daily driver (3 mile commute)

I like the HEI dist, cleaner and better spark. Although I had to add a carb spacer to raise it, but with the EGR spacer it is raised anyways (If you kept it).

    PS I wish I only had a 3 mile commute :D

I just got new insurance to reflect living in Texas; the agent was wowed that I'd only put 250 miles on two vehicles in two months. Of course, it didn't lower the premiums any....

I'm Adam. I'm in Southern California. I build and restore custom classics for a livinf. Specializing in sheetmetal fab, body and paint, among other things. I work for a private collector with around 30 cars and trucks and maybe 15 vintage motorcycles, tons of pedal cars, rc planes, neon signs, etc. We build cars to add to his collection.

Enough about me. I have a 60 Falcon Ranchero. I got it for $900 running and fully complete, around 10 years ago. It was from south carolina and was rotted out BAD. I replaced the tailgate. And I cut out the entire floor and frame and built a full 2x3 steel chassis for it with custom air suspension. It lays rocker pinch weld on the ground when aired all the way out.

I de chromed the edges of the bed and roof, removing and welding up the pinch weld along the edge of the bed and smoothing out the top of the tailgate. Shaved door handles, shaved drip rails with "snow drift", removed body lines to smooth out top of front fenders, shaved fuel filler on bedside, and I'm working on a custom interior.

Right now it has the stock drivetrain. Im going to look at a 292 Y block tomorrow. Anybody ever put a 292 in a early 60s Ranchero?

I'll post pics in another thread later.
