You'll find that the mechanicals under the skin are pretty much the same as a Mustang; I've always found the intermediates ('67-'71) are pretty darned close to the Mustang in performance also, even though the wheelbase is a smidge longer.

    Welcome to the jungle!

Howdy y'all. Fitz checking in from Texas. Just acquired a '72 Ranchero GT, 351C/C4. Current plan is to swap a roller 5.8/4R70w. My 3rd ranchero, gonna make this one a comfy highway cruiser...

The Ranchero I wanted was that color combo GT, but it was a '79. The guy who owned it refused to sell it. This was after my '74 Squire insurance payout. $1600 back in '02 was about right for a straight, running, Chero.

Hello everybody. Semi-retired, semi-old guy here. I'm working on restoring this 1964 Ranchero for a few years now. I didn't listen to my friend who told me not to take the engine out. Five years later, I finally got a 302 engine and married it to a C4. I'm hoping to get some wisdom on here so I may learn from other's mistakes instead of keep making them.

    Evening all,

New member here... Dan S., from Marblehead, Ohio.

Always had a mid-60's Ranchero on my wish list of cars to own - came across this 1967 (love the stacked quad-headlights!) on Legendary Motorcars and picked it up a couple weeks ago.

Very nice restoration done by the previous owner back in 2012 so I've got a great, non-rusty, platform to start with.

Currently chasing down some fluid leaks (oil pan, transmission pan, etc.) and have already replaced the leaking rear shocks and the center caps on the Scott Drake wheels from Mustang logo to Ford "Crown" logo.

Will install Autometer water temp, oil pressure and charging gauges this winter.
Seems to be (2) options for the water temp sensor - cut the hose and install an adapter or replace the thermostat housing with one that has a NPT fitting for the sensor. Not sure what to do with the oil pressure gauge (my first big block).

Also, there seems to be some issues with the HVAC controls that will need sorting out - hoping to get some help here on the forum.

    Very fun car to drive!

I couldn't pass this up when I ran across the add on face book, I didn't even drive it! I started it turned it off told him I'd be back with the money. The drive back to my city was great, I couldn't believe I got such a good deal.
Trying to figure out what kind of 351 it had came back as a Cleveland. The next thing I did was run the Vin everything kept coming back error so I thought I'm not on the right site to run an old Vin, but I was The certified Copy of the title said Verification of Vin waved so checking the door tag and windshield Vin I discovered it wasn't an O it was a Q This is a true story , Finally got around to opening the glove box where the door fell to the floor and inside was a stack of 15 or so Registrations from New Mexico all with Q in the Vin. The Truck is far from perfect and Im going to need a lot of help I've already got new carpet new original upholstery for the bucket seats and a new circuit for the cluster but it didn't fix my problem, I'm not worried I am sure the solution is not far away. Thank you all in advance

Wow, it sounds like a fraud, on its face, but if it is a Q-code, and it has the original engine, yeah, that sounds like you got a screaming deal. Of course, pics are always welcome, but they need to be 1MB or smaller resolution.

The Gentleman I purchased it from was a Mopar guy , He got it from someone that owed him money, so obviously he didn't know what he had. The paint job and body work is not great. I love the ram air but fear of finding whats underneath the paint that's cracking around the hood already. About me i grew up a Chevy guy My first car was a Maverick second was a 74 f250 with a 490 or 460 and both were junkers gave me nothing but problems at age 15 and 16, I didnt know any better . fast forward to 1992 I bought my girl ( Her Choice ) 1989 mustang 5.0 HO 5 speed and I have been a ford guy ever since. Today My daily driver is a 2000 Excursion 7.3 Diesel ,I bought my mechanics wife's 2005 excursion 6.0 so she drives that and I have a 1990 fox body I let her drive on sunny days
