The bolts on the Ranchero door hinge broke when opened, which is the size of that bolt.
3/8 16 x 1 1/4 flange body bolt
The car is a - 79 model.
I don’t really understand those inch-sized bolts, millimeter-sized bolts are more familiar.
Those bolts are not 3/8 "at least in my own car, they were 5/16". The threads were just so rusty that the new 5/16 "bolts didn't fit at first. I thought they had some special thread.
I have a 1979, and I'm eventually going to replace my passenger door; I should have the fasteners off the donor car, and I'll check them the next time I go to storage. But, if I remember correctly, they are 3/8"-16 threads per inch by 1 1/4" length.
Looking at the picture, you may be right, they could be 5/16"-18 TPI, and would still be 1 1/4" in length.
Yup. 5/16"-18 TPI.
That was the only one I could find inside the door, without removing the glass and going fishing. But I'm going to a classic car junkyard tomorrow, hopefully, Saturday, if not, and I can see about picking up some replacement bolts, if you wish.
I already ordered new bolts from one online store, all 6 pcs. If I also have to remove the upper hinge, then maybe they will break as well.
5/16" - 18 ( UNC )
OK, that's good.
