Actually, those front ends were built before the Z cars came out. Sure looks similar but Ford had them first on some prototypes in an aborted effort to beat the Chrysler wing cars on the super speedways. They made great downforce on the front of the cars but the project got the axe before Ford sorted out what to do to the rear of the cars. Larry Shinoda came up with the design after doing the Stingray Corvettes. All kinds of controversy over how many and what Ford put those noses on, I just smile and grin like an ignorant hillbilly because I can go an' lay hands on the real ones. That Ranchero has a Boss 429 / 4 speed if you can imagine that. Kinda' like my avatar pic. For a teaser, imagine a Montego wagon. Check the date on the photo.
Alas, I think I contributed to Wacky World being taken down. I'd solicited opinions on political stuff. I find talking politics with folks I agree with to be pretty boring, and had rather stupidly hoped to hear civil discussion of opposing views. Civil discussion online is a problem everywhere: Audubon Society considered taking down the comments section on its website because there was so much hostility and trolling. And that's about birds! Anyway, too bad this site can't serve as a forum for political and religious discussion. There's some very smart people here. But it's just not worth the problems that arise.
The people here would be at each others throats, if we talked about birds. Personally, I like flipping them.
It is unfortunate that otherwise-intelligent people cannot discuss issues without getting all bitchy and ready to kill each other. That's why I very seldomly join in because I will always run into someone who hacks me because I come near their tightly-held beliefs.
Yeah, what is up with other people not liking what you say? What's up with that? Shutting them up is the American way. Free speech is good, as long as nobodies feelings are hurt or their political agenda is opposed. Sieg Heil! On the other hand, couldn't people that don't like it just not participate? Why do they feel the need to shut others up? I don't box anymore, at 60 I would lose too often. Do I want others to not box? No. I really don't understand why the people that don't like WW didn't just not go there. (I am being sarcastic, actually I do know why, they had a particular political position that they couldn't defend and they wanted the other side shut up).
Well, of course free speech is good, as long as those who practice it remember that the "First Amendment is not a suicide pact."
Even with the political and divisive talk stifled, some people can't help still popping off about it. And will do so with impunity, as always. Funny.
Some can't have a discussion, without resorting to name calling. It's sad, but that's what happens with some egos.
Sworn to secrecy about where it is stashed but yes, it still exists. Dad drove it for years delivering parts to race teams for Ford. Under hood looks just like the pic in my avatar. A few guys here have seen his other Aerowarriors in person so be assured they are real. The "Nukes" that ended the aerowars if you will. Sorry about the photo fade.
I always thought they looked sort of dumb, almost cheap European. However, I wouldn't kick one out of my driveway. The are one of the baddest of the bad.
