Actually, those front ends were built before the Z cars came out. Sure looks similar but Ford had them first on some prototypes in an aborted effort to beat the Chrysler wing cars on the super speedways. They made great downforce on the front of the cars but the project got the axe before Ford sorted out what to do to the rear of the cars. Larry Shinoda came up with the design after doing the Stingray Corvettes. All kinds of controversy over how many and what Ford put those noses on, I just smile and grin like an ignorant hillbilly because I can go an' lay hands on the real ones.
