Has anyone tried Amsoil oil? I have heard about their product for years and decided to try it in my MB. So far I find it as good or better than Mobile 1 or Castrol. They have a new zinc formulated oil for older cars. I will be using it in my Ranchero and van. I did become a dealer so I don't have to pay retail prices.
I don't know how good it is, but it's been around for a long time. My brother-in-law was a dealer back in the late 70's.
They sell it where I work. Haven't seen any problems, however the API starburst symbol is missing from many of the weights. API is the gold testing standard. There is an explanation on Amzoils site. My personal recomendation is Mobil 1 for 2 reasons. We raced in a NASCAR touring series. The oil temps were MUCH lower with Mobil 1 than any other brand we tried. Our engines were turning 8,000 to 8,200 rpm. We never had an engine failure. One engine had over 10,000 laps which was unheard of. Not a scientific study, buy what you want and others may have differing opnions but I am sold on Mobil 1.
