During yesterdays test, we lost a member of the insect community, a black and yellow wasp, and it was caught on our on-board, high speed camera. It's got about 140 ms of life left to live in this screen shot. The video is epic, when zoomed in. At 320 ms. a piece of intruding glass clips his abdomen. At 346, another hits it square, pulling it down to the seat, where it lands in two parts.

I like the skull imprint on the airbag.

In this case, the last thing to go through the wasp's brain wasn't his bunghole....

Another funny pic. After crashing a BMW yesterday, I hopped in the passenger seat and this message popped on the screen, with accompanying warning chimes. Maybe I forgot to shut the hood before launching the car into the barrier?

That Bimmer was in a collision, and it's worried about the hood? Damned thing should be programmed to auto-dial 911 then put up calming messages for the driver and any passengers.

See! Where were the crash-test guys at my high school career fair?!

Some guys pay when they crash cars and others get paid to crash cars. I do not fit into the latter category. :D

    Still love the commercial:
"Now let's crash the gold one." "That's 'Desert Sand Mica.'" "Whatever. Just crash it." "But that's my van!"

It did call, like most GM's do after a crash. Sometimes those are werid conversations.

This is On-Star, we detected a crash in the front left side, along with airbag deployment. Do you need assistance?
No, this was a crash at a crash test facility. It's all good.
    Seriously?

Why? They are nice rides. The German's know how to build a quality vehicle.

It's only a WASP that would drive a Bimmer....

Car's gonna call On-Star if the transceiver's not disabled beforehand.

Next time you have one of those convos, play with them a bit:
"This is OnStar, we detected a collision."
--"Yeah, sorry about that, OnStar. My girlfriend's being a raging b*tch, and I deliberately collided with a tree to shut her up."
--"This is a controlled collision at a crash test facility, but to tell the truth, I didn't have much control after I hit the concrete barrier." "After...you...hit?" "That's correct. We're testing how much control you have after the collision, and you can't program a test dummy to measure that, so here we are. Got any Motrin?"
--*little boys voice*"WHEE! THAT WAS FUN! MOM, CAN WE GO AGAIN?!?"
