Pandemic purchase..

Getting ready for the coming Zombie apocalypse, Picking up a black powder 1858 Remington New Army by Uberti.
Well, Thats my excuse anyway..

That's correct. and you can get Conversion Cylinders to shoot smokeless cartridge ammo. Mine is .44 cal BP and will shoot 45 Long Colt cartridges.

Bought it 4 years ago and converted it to the krist 45 ACP cal.
Very accurate up to 50 yards.
I am very pleased with this weapon.

No
I guess you could but I just load them one at a time until the chamber is full.

With the Krist you don't have to use moon clips..

 

Ahhh, so then the cylinder is stepped so that the mouth of the case sets the headspace? Got it...wasn't thinking that way earlier when I asked about the moon clips. Probably sounds like I'm asking silly questions but it's because revolvers typically use the rim of the case and semis use the mouth of the case to set the headspace.

Looks like you got the adjustable sights, did you end up having to adjust them much?

 

It shot about a 1/8 inch to the right at 100 meters so I did adjust that out. At 50 meters I can get a 3 1/2 inch group with it.
It is the target model so came with the adjustable sights. I could make up for it being off by adjusting my aim point but since I could adjust it that's what I did.

No I never had a long colt but all ways wanted to try one.
The reason I went with the 45 ACP is because I have over 700 rounds of it and need to whittle them down some.

If I was down to 700+ rounds of 45 I'd be loosing my mind and pulling the handle of the reloader like a mad man.

I don't worry to much about the 45 as with a revolver it will take a long time to use them up.
However on my M1A I get the reloader out when I get down to 2500 rounds as I shoot them up fairly fast.

I hear you, back when I played National Match I'd get all sweaty if I was under 5 cans of M-852. On the up side today I am picking up a 1990 AOD slush box out of a 2WD F-150 for the princely sum of 300 rnds of M-80 ball that I have had sitting around for 20+ years. Now if I could just find a machine shop that would trade ammo for work.....

If you find him ask if he will take 145 grain ball.
I use 165-175 grain and don't use the 145 except for plinking.
