    how about a picture of where it bolts to and a hole spacing measurement

    If you're thinking this is a stock Ford part, it is not; it's something a previous owner has added. It could be easily made if you were to create a sketch with measurements, then take it to a shop that could fab it for you. Looks like a single chain link welded to a flat plate with a couple holes drilled, and painted with black wrinkle paint. Should be easy for someone with the tools & materials.

    Looks to me like a hand hold for a garbage truck. Plenty of nice aftermarket tiedowns available.

    plate has a slight curve to match the wheel well
    hole spacing is about 2.7"

    Definitely home-made, AND, as a previous '57 owner, I have never seen anything like that before...
