    So I know some have installed Pertronix electronic ignitions in their points cars; it does have the benefit of easy installation, and three different 'grades' of units, plus a coil that goes with it, but others (like me) are gluttons for punishment, so Duraspark it is. Now, this unit was pulled from a '76 LTD with the 351M and installed in Bear, Joe's '73 Galaxie PI, because code enforcement. It had to be driveable and tabbed...we only got it driveable, since we had trouble with finding a windshield, as well as the cost of a new one, so once the Barge was running, we swapped them.
    The photos I took are of a fairly high quality, so zooming in is pretty clear. This uses the factory harness plus sections spliced in to fit it better. You only need to hook the two-wire connector wires to the car's harness to power the system, and one wire for power to the coil. There are splices, as I was unsure at first how to hook them up, but the following gets you a running engine:

    MODULE
    --Red wire-->White/Blue, hook this to the starter solenoid 'I' terminal;
    --White wire-->Red/Green or Grey, I can't tell, and I need to find the diagram to confirm, this goes to 'RUN' 12 volt power underdash

    COIL
    --To Red/White coil + feed wire, and DS coil + feed is Red/Green.

    And now, the photos! PSX_20220125_133656.jpg PSX_20220125_133729.jpg PSX_20220125_133811.jpg PSX_20220125_133843.jpg PSX_20220125_133920.jpg

    If anyone has any questions (such as why I'm so sloppy with my wiring), don't hesitate to ask.

    I wouldn't be ashamed of that wiring job. Looks like a factory loom compared to some that I have seen. One caution = Have you noticed that on the T-Birds and MK Lincolns having plastic inner fenders, they utilize a ground strap of some form from the fenders to the mounting bolts of the control box. Not needed if you have metal inner fenders. I mention this ground because without a proper ground to the box, you can get yourself lit up like accidently getting contact with the business end of a good MSD control box. Duraspark packs a serious punch for the non believers.

    Yeah, I'm familiar with that, it's why the early '80s FoMoCo vehicles had the starter solenoid and charge regulator grounded with a wire each from the loom, or bolted to metal on the fender. My '89 wagon came with the heated windshield, so it has the big side-terminal alternator and regulator installed, and the regulator case is grounded with a wire, since the inner fenders are plastic. An aside: I read how the heater circuit works in the EVTM, and I was surprised the heater controller disengages the regulator then ups the voltage to 70-80 volts! Talk about getting your junk kicked!
