I turn my steering wheel more than 180 degrees during every turn on the streets.
Do you have 1 turn lock to lock steering BB?

Magnets and clamps are my friends... :) It dawned on me when looking down on trying to measure the angle: since it is a D shaft you have only 2 choices in any phasing, ha!

2.5 turns steering stop to steering stop on the LCRs which gives me an idea...hhmmmm? Maybe some "adjustments" to those steering stop might be beneficial...?

You might want to disconnect the spindles and see how far the rack and pinion unit will move.
You don't want to be close to the end of it's range of motion as it can be damaged by turning it too far.
If it goes up to 3 or more you have room to tighten your turning radius.
I would leave at least 1/8 turn on each end to account for wear and alignment changes.

Point well taken. I'm always scheming to "improve" things which has been caused a few problems more than once...!

I see this thread is several years old; I have enjoyed reading it. In retrospect what did you gain from this conversion? I’m considering doing one myself (65 Ranchero, originally a 170 inline six 3 on the tree, now with a 289 V8 and Tremec T5, still using a factory Z bar clutch and Doug’s tri Y headers and 4 lug wheels with drums).
