Ranchero meeting Jan 14th So Ca.

Made it over to Irvine Park this morning to secure our spot.
This is for Sat. Jan 14th Irvine Park at !0:00 am
For directions, "google" Irvine Park.
The directions say its off Katella blvd, but Katella changes its name to Santiago Canyon road.
Take Katella east till it dead ends, turn left, go about 75 yards to the entrance of the park. Once you enter the park, take the 1st street left, and go to the Sycamore Hill area<it will be on the right side of the road,approx 1/2 mile>.
It is 1st come,1st served, but I was told we would have no problems finding plenty of parking.
There are restrooms, benches, tables, bar-b-ques, everything we could need.
If you leave the park for any reason, you will have to pay to get back in, so just in case the food courts are not open, you should bring food or things to drink if you are going to want them.
Pets are allowed on leashes.
I will be there about 9:00 am and post some sign directing everyone to the area, but its very easy to find.
Open hoods on the cars are not allowed. They classify that as a car show, which requires a permit. You can open your hood to show some one your engine, but it must be closed after you show it.
Also, I will have a table at the front of the lot with 5x7 cards and blue tape so everyone can place these on their windshields.
All they need to say is your "user" name on the form, your actual name below, and the year of your ride.<be kinda nice to know who we are talking with>
Start time is 10:00 util 2:00 pm, but you can stay until the park closes<6:00pm>
During the week they charge $3.00 per day, but weekends are $5.00 per day
Should be fun, lets hope for clear weather.
If the forecast calls for rain, we can reschedule for the following weekend.

I have been a member of a couple different clubs, so once the basics are covered,<locations, times, rules of the location>, its usually is smooth going.
Hope you get your Ranchero up and running in time.
Lets all get together and have a good time.

 

Lets see, no weddings, no baseball, drag racing is out, yes I maybe able to bring the 63.

 

Sounds like it will be a great time but I'm going to have to miss this one, I'll be in Texas that weekend. I hope this isn't a one-time-only event so I'll be able to make one of the future meets!

BRC, is it cool to bring another model ford if your ranchero aint runnin? i say yes. cuz mine might die after a few freeway runs. i still plan on going.
i got it out today and will try freeway tomorrow.

 

gonna try to make it, it will be in a stang though as the ranchero just can't make it without a tow truck

Hell no <just kidding> of course, Everyones ride at one time or another is down for something. Lets just make it a low down, no pressure type thing, and see if everyone would like to get together every month, or even every other month. Locations can vary, so no one has to drive a far distance each time<if we do deceide to get together more than once> One time in the mountain area, one time in the beach area, and so on. Then the next time hopefully you will have your Ranchero up and running.

So far we have 5 peoples coming out for the Jan 14th date, with plenty of time for more to respond.
Be nice if we could get at least 10 or so, but even 5 is a great start.

 

Sounds like a bunch of us are in the same boat with our Cheros. I'm iffy on the ability of mine to make it that far. I'm going to brave the consequences and give it a try anyway. If it all works out, it just might expand my Cheros world again.

well my Rancher is good for 10 mile road trips, although I have Triple AAA Plus with a hundred mile towing, I would just prefer everyone come to my house, I will BBQ and everyone could look at a broke down car here. LOL

Still waiting on the work schedule to be set up, still hopeful.

BRC, Thanks for all your help with the gauge cluster, let you know how that turns out. Sorry can't make your get together, would be tough driving the 2500+ miles to get there.

 

I am there. Does that make 6 or had you already counted me as one of the 5? Having at least 10 Cheros would be awesome.

I had counted 5, 6 counting yours. I have received some PMs with people hoping to make it also.
I think if this does turn into a monthly or bi-monthly thing, it could give some people an incentive to get theirs going so they also can make some of the get togethers.Maybe move the lawn mowers and bicycles, pull off the blue tarps, clean away the cobwebs and fire em up.
One thing I have noticed over the years, people from All age groups drive those things call, L-camino, but its seems as people age and get wiser,they tend to go with a more respectable,classic type ride like our Rancheros.I saw two Very nice ones just yesterday within an hour of each other.
One was a very nice black 63 with stock orange rims and Ford dogdish hubcaps,, and the other a very cool looking 67. These were within 4 to 5 min from my house, and at different locations. Wish I could have stopped and spoke to them, but I was on a dead run to go some where.

Pencil me in, but Rancheroless. The 61 is a bit away from the road, and I sold the 73.
