Nope, Hillbilly doesn't have a Ford or Merc wagon - - Yet . He went a bit off center on those unless you can count an Excursion as a wagon. I do have a long roof 93 Buick thanks to a certain member here talking about how much he liked his, they are kinda' fun. See any potential in these ?

It's a very itchy job but you are right it is fun. This topper is kinda rare and I have always liked the "razor back" look that it gives the ranchero. I am hoping that my skills will be good enough to make this thing look good enough to put on my car. :)

yes I will be adding some fiberglass from the backside. It is though stronger than it looks and if I did nothing to it would hold up well.

Ok folks I had a couple of minutes during the busy Holiday shuffle to load some pictures of the progress. these are a few weeks old and I plan on getting back at it, But the Holiday's have slowed me down a bit. Take care Dan

OK time for another update. I needed to mount the topper down to see how things would line up once tighened down. I learned that I will need a thick seal that is very soft to go around the entire topper. That will help with the imperfections as well keeping the edge of the topper away from the body. It will also help with the alignment of the hatch (where it would meet at the tailgate). I have some photos of the tie down system i will be using. This will work perfect and I will be adding a locking nut so they don't come loose.

Here is what the topper looks like on the car. The paper was to protect the body while I messed with this thing. It does with the standard foam you buy for truck toppers sit to close to the body.

I've seen toppers on rancheros and always thought, man, thats ugly. The one you have there is awesome. The only thing wrong with it is it needs to be sitting on my 71:D

I have always liked these "razor back" style toppers but they are kinda rare. When I had the chance to get this one I grabbed it up. It still needs a lot of work but I am sure that it will turn some heads and be very useful when it is done. Thanks for all the positive feedback guys! I will tell you one thing this topper will have it fair share of fiberglass/body filler to make it look right. Take care I will keep the photos coming. :D

I've never even seen a razor back topper before this thread; and that looks good. I had the standard shell on a couple of mine, and I liked the protected bed. I also had a fiberglass tonneau which looked great to me. This razorback is right in the middle of them from the looks of it. Of course, the rehab work Dan's doing on it is wicked.

I like the way you modified it so that a portion opens without lifting the whole thing, kind of like having a trunk!
