So, this morning, I am at the Pick 'n' Nose in South San Antonio, in the 'collector' (cough, costly, cough) car section looking at the Rancheros, plus other semi-matching cars, and have some pics to put up. Stand by with your wallet in-hand, as I post up these photos...which I just realized, I have yet to resize. Back shortly!
Bumpers for '2-liter Coke bottle bodies:' The first one is a '76, the last is a '77-'79, and the middle appears to be a '77-'79, but I cannot remember what Babe's brackets looked like.
One '50s Chero, some usable/restorable parts, and a really cool 'bed extender:' Tailgate shell and panel appear to be good, but I forgot to look to verify the latch hardware was there. Mostly body panels are good, glass has had it all around, and gear under the hood is all corroded. Oh, and no rear axle.
Several '60s cars are available, but I didn't note specific years. You can verify on their website (www.picknpullsa.com), under 'classic inventory:' And what the fark is a Greenbrier doing in the Ford section?
And the few '70s ones...there's a '73, a '76, and three '77-'79s: That '76 has a factory dash clock, looks to be mostly complete.
I think this blue one is what my '63 is supposed to look like, mine has a '62 grill and front bumper;
And, Lincoln sexiness incarnate. Just add busty Seventies redhead: A nearly-complete Mark IV 'Lipstick' interior.
Looking at the yard map,place looks huge and organized,shuttle service?we have nothing like that in the northeast!
Everything's bigger in Texas! You should've seen my face when Joe brought me here a year and a half ago...my jaw hit the ground, I was so astounded! And yes, for the main yard, there is a shuttle.
Hey, handy_andy, great photos. They almost want me to jump into my Ranchero and head to South San Antonio. Pandemic be damned! In addition to my two Rancheros, I'm also working on a 60 and 62 TBird. Did you happen to notice if they happened to have a devoted section, or anything in this breed of Ford? If they do, are they normally receptive to taking a phone call and discussing price over the phone? (For example I need a radiator support and front frame extension for a 58-60 Bird. This might involve some cutting) If they will deal over the phone can you give me a contact name and phone number? A belated Happy New Year to you All. Keep cruisin and stay safe.
Sorry, handy_andy, I skipped over the link in your earlier email. (Senior Moment) I guess I answered my own questions. And the answer is no TBirds, unless you have something to add from personal observation. Generally however, if any of you out there in Ranchero-land, happen to come across any early TBird parts cars while searching for your parts, I would love to know about it. Finder fee included of course should I decide to buy anything as a result of your information.
One last thing Handy_andy. Do you or any of your friends have any plans to visit this yard again in the near future. I ask because I have a friend here who is restoring a 1970 Pontiac Grand Prix. When I told him about your visit and photos he went on their website and found that they do have one Grand Prix in their yard. He called PicknPull only to be told that they do not have photos of any of their cars, and will not discuss what is left of any of their parts cars. You must show up and do your own investigations. As he needs a hood and a trunk lid, he might be willing to travel there to buy them, but doesn't want to make a 2000+ mile round trip, only to find out that the car had been stripped. Any thoughts on this dilemma would be appreciated and I will pass on.
