Revised cup holder with map pocket

    I made a cup holder a few years ago that attached under the 4 speed boot bezel. It's worked great, but on road trips, I was always wishing for more space for maps, cell phones, etc.; there just isn't much storage space other than the glove box, and I have other important stuff in there, like koozies, phone cables, chargers and stuff. And I don't want one of those seat-mounted armrest/storage things, 'cuz I need to get behind the seat often.

    So I'm making a pattern that now includes a map pocket on the side. It doesn't take up any extra room, and should be pretty easy to bend up in aluminum sheet.

    seeing the pic makes me want to ask off topic. for 62 ranchero, 170, 3 speed on tree, HED trans, any opinion on what floor shifter to buy?

    I had some extra room at the front of the unit, so I added a phone holder I found at Walmart. It's pretty cool, with some kind of magic removable & re-usable adhesive, it rotates and has spring-loaded adjustment for different phone thicknesses:
