I made a cup holder a few years ago that attached under the 4 speed boot bezel. It's worked great, but on road trips, I was always wishing for more space for maps, cell phones, etc.; there just isn't much storage space other than the glove box, and I have other important stuff in there, like koozies, phone cables, chargers and stuff. And I don't want one of those seat-mounted armrest/storage things, 'cuz I need to get behind the seat often. So I'm making a pattern that now includes a map pocket on the side. It doesn't take up any extra room, and should be pretty easy to bend up in aluminum sheet. Original: Revision pattern:
seeing the pic makes me want to ask off topic. for 62 ranchero, 170, 3 speed on tree, HED trans, any opinion on what floor shifter to buy?
I had some extra room at the front of the unit, so I added a phone holder I found at Walmart. It's pretty cool, with some kind of magic removable & re-usable adhesive, it rotates and has spring-loaded adjustment for different phone thicknesses:
