Getting ready to head over to Minnesota to visit my old friend Tom in my '65 Ranchero, a 3700 mile round trip. Spent the last couple days getting Lucky all tuned up- oil & filter change, flush & fill radiator with new antifreeze, greased the chassis & driveshaft, checked brake fluid, checked air pressure in tires & spare, filled the windshield washer tank. Even checked the blinker fluid…. Ready to hit the road in a couple weeks. KOA cabins both ways; can't wait.
Ozark, MO, then Tulsa OK, Kansas, then up through Nebraska to South Dakota, Wyoming, and Montana. Then figure out which direction towards home.
My parents built their retirement home in Ozark, MO to live next door to my Grandparents farm. And my sister lives not too far away in Neosho, near Joplin. You must have relatives in that area too?
Must be holiday season , I’m currently in Toowoomba Australia visiting 2 of my brothers . Then heading back to Brisbane then up the coast and flying home from Cairns. Denis.
I'm back, and had a great time! I love seeing all the amazing sights across this country. The purpose of this trip was to visit my old buddy in Minnesota. He & I take turns visiting each other every few years, but he recently had a medical issue and couldn't make it on his turn to visit me, so I visited him. I had reserved small KOA cabins both ways, which is an upgrade for a tent camper like me. The most fun part of the trip was going up to his buddy's cabin on a lake in Northern MN, catching fish (along with many "bottle bass"), and watching the 4th of July boaters on the lake. Plenty of interesting sights, both natural & man made along the way. The Ranchero ran like a top, no issues except I picked up one rock chip in the windshield. I had figured $5 gas for the trip, but found the prices continually dropping heading East, the lowest being $3.37 for 87 regular. Here's just a few highlights from the trip: Part 1:
