Lost my lovely wife on Monday after a five year battle with ovarian cancer later complicated with MDS bone marrow cancer. Still a great relief. I did not know the dying process could be so long or difficult. Greatful for Hospice care.

Liz and I met right at 49 years ago in 1976 as new active duty Army Lieutenants - just as I purchased my new '75 Ranchero GT. She was the first woman to ride in it with me. Also the last.

The Army split us - her to Germany and me to Redstone Arsenal, Alabama. Still we remained friends over the years with four bad marriages between us.

With huge luck I met her again on a business trip to Denver in 2013. The rest is history - 11 years together, 6 years married.

Do make sure your women know the warning signs of ovarian cancer, usually none until stage 4, the silent killer. Come mammogram time, they should have a check for the CA125 blood indicator - like a PSA for men. The CA125 is not definitive for ovarian cancer but a high value means something is wrong. Most insurance will not cover a CA125 without a doctor's order because, as Liz always said, they are just women.

Still have the '75 GT but will miss her terribly.

My deepest condolences . My youngest brother died suddenly on Christmas morning , no fun having to ring the rest of the family to let them know.
Tell your nearest and dearest that you love them and your friends how much you appreciate them. You never know when someone’s number is up.
    Denis .

I'm sorry for your loss. Last week we learned that my wife has breast cancer. She'll be 50 in April. She's going in for a scan on Monday to see if there's any of the damn cancer everywhere...I'm really scared because it's what's known as aggressive cancer.
