The swastika is used in the UK by neo nazi hate groups and as such is looked upon in disgust, especially by veterans of world war 2 and the vast majority of people of an age who remember the war. Most ordinary german people also find it offensive as they were ashamed of the nazis and what they stood for.

Not many people would post a swastika as their avatar, for sure. I'm sure a 'reasonable' explanation of why it’s there will be forthcoming. One only he will believe.

It's a good job there aren't many brits or Europeans use this site, it's shaming, you wouldn't get away with that on a UK forum, (unless it was one of the aforementioned neo nazi groups)

Burying history does not change it.
History may not repeat itself, but stupidity does.
The rise of Progressivism in the 20's created unimaginable horrors in Germany, The Soviet Union, China and elsewhere.
There is good reason to believe that the current rise of Progressivism in the USA and parts of Europe will yield a similar result.

At no point did I infer that people who lived through the horrors of Nazism were burying history, on the contrary there are many people who lived through the second world war who are desperate to keep history alive, to show to younger generations the follies of that period.
I'm still struggling to understand why you show a swastika in public, your reply was rather enigmatic and I wonder why you choose to display it. I realise it's not a true third Reich swastika, what do the symbols/colours represent in the area that would normally be solid black ?

The background is Obama's 'hope and change' logo.
The parallels between what was happening in Europe and the USA in the 20's and what is happing today are striking.
The declining economies coinciding with major world power shifts during a rise of Progressivism today is near identical to the mid 20's.
My point is that last time, the USA reversed course, and Germany did not. I really doubt the USA will do it again, leaving us with alternative Germany chose.
I chose the Swastika because Socialism came to Germany the same way it came here. Through democratic election.

Your reasons he doesn't take issues with.

The internet is global, as Tony, Giska, Colin, and others here clearly demonstrate. Is it asking too much to express your disdain of the Obama empire in a slightly different fashion? Dismissing Nazi Germany, or diminishing it, serves only a negative purpose. Folks across the pond are much more sensitive to the atrocities of the Nazi regime and it's offending Tony. What say you tone the avatar down a tad?

Would it help if I changed the border from black to red?

I have to say, any response other than that would have been a total shock. You are what you are, which is, as the name suggests, ribald. Tony, he ain't gonna budge.

Thank you for removing the Swastika, my Grandad fought against and was wounded by the Nazis, It really does offend most people in the UK and even more in Europe when they see that symbol.

    I change my avatar often.
Maybe you all should rethink your position.
Socialism is rising rapidly in Europe, and it will be one of the most Socialist countries that breaks from the EU first. When that happens, the country will not pay what it owes the EU. War will be the end result with once again Socialist Europe trying to wipe out non Socialist Europe after bankrupting them.
Look into how Germany's debts brought about the rise of Hitler.
The Socialist flag hanging over this may not have the Swastika on it, but it will be the same flag.
Your politically correct fear of properly naming the enemy may be your downfall.

The way the UK is going we will be one of the 1st countries to break from the EU. The EU has changed from it's original free trade ideas to an overblown monster. I very very much doubt it will lead to war
I can assure you the Socialists are in a definite minority over here.

Where the hell do you get off by saying "Your politically correct fear of properly naming the enemy may be your downfall."
My downfall, my enemy WTF ?

Give it up, Tony. The poor guy is living somewhere else, in his head, with some friends. ;) Even if you're with him, you're against him.

He's off with the fairies on that theory he's peddling, I will not get into political arguements with someone who doesn't live in the UK and obviously knows naff all about UK citizens sensibilities.
This thread started out as a bit of fun with my friends FF (John) and Sean as I'd been away so long, I can't believe we ended up at this, serves me right for questioning an avatar.
