Got 78 Ranchero & it is missing the bench seat. What bench seats will fit it? Was told any 2 door Thunderbird/Cougar/Lincoln from 77 & up. Will others fit it like Ford truck, Toyota, Lexus, etc..

All the Torino based cars will work. The Tbird, Cougar seats are direct bolt in. The 72 up Torino/ Montego also are. Lincoln MkIV & V bolt in but their power switches are on the doors. The power tracks and manual tracks for split bench and buckets are direct bolt on interchange. The big Ford/Mercury and Lincoln seats will not work. Any other seat will require work to make them work.

I had these Cadillac DeVille seats installed in my '75 GT when in the paint shop. Jeff the body man said he had to do some hammer work on the floor pans to get them in but geeez they work well - electric movement and integral seat belts.

Drop in and bolt up with no modification 79 is the newest. 80 and newer Tbirds are Fairmonts.

But the way they bolt down is the same. The problem is that the Fox T-birds/Cougars are narrower than the '70s intermediates. A '79-'87 CV/Grand Marq/ Mark VI/Town Car seat will be about the same width as an intermediate's seat, and bolt right down to the floor.

any seat other than a factory 72/79 midsize platform is going to require some fab skills some more than others. but you can make just about any seat "work"

A fullsize truck seat is too wide. A Ranger seat would require brackets to be fabbed.

yea but my thing is no way to haul it with renting a truck looking at shipping for seat an motor then pay to have motor swapped an hopefully it be on road. Around here all 3 junkyards dont have nothing like that anymore. Hope to find everything close by.
