Mine has the leather sport wheel like Sarah's but I switched the center horn cap for the 76 Stallion head type

Hey----Would that Ford Sport wheel fit on my 65??
Kinda like the looks of it.
But---if it is too deep, I have to find something else.
Those deep wheels bring the wheel too damn close to me.
The 65 currently has one of those old classic 3-spoke wheels
that is about ready to fall apart.

How deep is that sport wheel from the mounting point to the rim???
    Diameter???

I used 70s GM sport 3-spoke on my old Chevies to move the wheel farther away. A 15-1/2" wheel from a 17 and reducing the depth from 6" to 3" sure did make these 2 Chevies more comfortable to drive.

this is the one I have with a Ford horn button, leather is worn off and has been wrapped with electrical tape (nasty) the turn signal lever had to be bent to allow clearance,

13.5" Grant wheel. I like the results from smaller diameter. It made the steering feel more responsive. Less over the center hand movement to make it it steer. The 13.5" wheel blocks the view to the gages a little. I would probably buy a little bit bigger diameter wheel next time.

As a heads up you might want to check your state laws regarding a smaller wheel swap out...In VA we can;t add a smaller than stock for a repalcement...although a lot do,it could be an unexpected surprise at inspection time///

the wheel in the first photo looks like the wheel in a mustang II. i think it would work best. it should bolt in with no problem and look as if it belonged there. and you would not have any problems with getting a safety inspection. i had a Grant GT wheel in my E150 once i got used to it it was fine but what a feeling trying to get used to it. when i sold the van i kept the wheel and installed it on my riding lawn mower it worked perfect.

I had that wooden one that Fomoco8 posted on my 79 Ranchero. I felt it put the "Ranch" in Ranchero whenever I drove the car. It might be some Chinese steering wheel for all I know but I loved the feel of the wood in my hands. I'd throw that one in my 73 Ranchero if it didn't have a rim blow wheel, plus I have NEVER EVER got the horn buttons to work or stay on with those Grant steering wheels, but that's just me.

Oh, thumbs up kewlcustompaint on using the Gran Torino Sport insert. How in the heck did you do the internal plastic framing (the piping)?

I took an old 73 Sport grille emblem that the body was all pitted so basically junk and cut the center out then painted the chrome matte black to match the black rubber
