More and more folks use their phones for web surfing, and these APPS make sites look better and easier to navigate. I get that you old folks are against any change.
Seems that more and more these days, young folks want someone else to pay for or build things they want. Us old folks buy or build what we want. When us old folks die off, who is going to buy or build things for the younger folks? Hopefully their kids are more energetic than they are and can keep them going. Otherwise, they are screwed.
For info and those that are curious: Our server provider (host) experienced a catastrophic hardware failure of the server and supporting equipment, a symptom of it degrading was the slowness of the site, and was not revealed to us through the diagnostics as the software was just fine and doing what it was supposed to, it was just getting slowed down due to write difficulties caused by hard drives that were in the process of failing. They replaced our server and supporting hardware with new equipment. This was not any fault of anyone using the site. Hardware failure, pure and simple and happened at the worst time for us entering a weekend. Although we don't expect it, we might see a couple of brief outages as we restore files and backups. FWIW, while we were experience problems we did update the software to the latest and greatest version. Bill will have more details if there is anything to add later.
....I felt a great disturbance in the Force!....Thanks for all the work to keep this wagon on its wheels.
Yes, it's as operational as it's ever been. Major kudos to you and Dan for presumably harping on the vendors until this was resolved.
Drives fail plain and simple. We troubleshot everything we could with the reply lag to no avail. Like stated above it was out of our control. Hopefully we will now be trouble/lag free for the near future.
The hourglass is the processor on an ancient windows machine trying to think. Didn't that go away back after XP? The status bar on the top right that appears is the waiting for the website to respond. The status bar has only been appearing briefly, or not at all since this issue was resolved. However, the only reason I know it exists is due to visiting this site. The site still lags a bit on occasion, but is near it's old glory.
