That, and I think the strung out folks are strung out on meth, not crack. But either way, I hope Dennis is doing much better and will post up here soon. God luck, as they say!
OK GUYS, not a good time for showing off. Here's the deal, all I know right now = Dennis was working on a roof near his home when it gave way, he fell thru destroying his left hip. Being an onery cuss, Dennis drove himself home to confer with his wife in hopes she could pop it back into place. Ann is a skilled nurse guys, but when she saw his leg pointing backwards she immediately took his butt to the hospital where he got to endure the joys of a hip replacment. His next two weeks will be sleepless as the docs make you get up and move around every hour. It may be a little while before he posts here. That's all I know for now, hopefully I'll be able to give you good updates soon. Hillbilly
WOW, I feel the pain, thats sucks but the doctors today are so good he will be as new or better, and as it looks he is on now, arent you Dennis
I spoke with him a few minutes ago he wanted me to let ya'll know he appreciates the thoughts and prayers... He was up walking a little bit (a few feet) the therapists don't let you sit long. But he's doing well... And he promised he would be nicer to his stuff in the future... None of us are getting any younger.
I had a dislocated hip when I was 19. The Docs gave me an IV and I was gone, next thing I knew I was wide awake and 3 guys were popping my leg back in the socket. At 19 you bounce back fast, seems like the system forgets how to fix stuff as every injury takes longer to heal than the last one.
I can totaly relate! Roofs are dangerous places to have be on. Sounds like you had an angel looking out for you Dennis.
My Dad had both knees replaced last year, and he recoved fine, without a bunch of T&P's Get better soon, Dennis. If Dad can do it, you can. True about roofs, Eddie. Damn gravity, gets you every time.
Yep, it's not the fall its the sudden stop. My oldest son has fallen off 3 times has pins in both ankles. It was a slow recovery each time. I can't even imagine hip replacments.
My mother had both hips replaced while she was in her 70's (within the last decade). Recovery is very fast these days compared to what it was when my grandmother had a hip replaced in 1972. Back in those days it really was a long recovery. Not saying I would envy anyone getting one - just that it's a routine procedure these days. I'll bet Dennis will be up and around in plenty of time for the first car show of the year (assuming that it's not within the next two weeks).
Thank you fer the heartfelt get wells and thank you especially to those who have prayed with us on this recovery... Dr. is sending me home to heal... This complete hip replacement will take aWhile to fully recover from... Ann has her hands full fer a spell, our son John and friends will take care of the chores our farm requires... Thanks again y`all, Ann & Dennis
I asked fer the "ball" fer a shift knob... you know the hip joint ball? that fits into the socket... They didn`t give it to me yet... That ball was clean cut off the femor?...
That's gross!!!! but it would keep others from driving your car If I may ask, what were you doing up on a roof? They scare the crap out of me. I'm not afraid of heights, at all, I'm afraid of falling off them.
