I replaced the filler tube about 4 years ago because it was leaking. Yesterday I put some gas in my tank and I usually only fill it half way but I put in about 3/4 of a tank full and this is what has greeted me today... I had previously purchased some very heavy duty hose but gave up trying to put it on due to having only one arm and just replaced it with a "stock" one. Looks like I'll be enlisting one of my car buddies to help me this time....
Well I jumped to conclusions...again! The clamp was loose so tightening fixed the leak, whew! My gas gauge is way off because it reads about 2/3 full and gas was all the up into the top of the filler tube. Gee, maybe that's why the gas pump clicked off...no duh! I'll take easy fixes anytime...!
It's a good idea to tighten all hose clamps on a regular basis, maybe with oil changes. Even if clamps hold, the rubber compresses and shrinks.
Randy . let me know if you cant get help...i am sure i could get out your way if really needed , ANDY
Thanks but I got it fixed...it does make me wonder about my gauge/sender...? Maybe one of those snakey camera scopes would be handy to see what the level of gas actually is...?
