Anyone know what the purpose of this thing in the picture is? I'm guessing it has something to do with the spare tire. I want to cut it off since I'm redoing the interior. Any reason why that's a bad idea? The car didn't come with a spare , jack or anything. The tire in the pic is a donut from a late model mustang and fits in the passenger side cubby hole.

The jack that came with the car slides in there to keep it in place. I'd go ahead and cut it out if you don't have or intend to put the jack back in.

mine be gone too. my chero had no jack when i got it. i opted for a small floor jack that fits behind the driver side, behind the floor lip along with a small tool bag. keepin it clean!

That's one of the reasons it's gotta go. I like the stock console in my '96 blazer so much I bought one for The Ranchero. 10 bucks!

The console won't just cover it up and go over it?

If I totally cover it, the armrest will be too far back. I'm one of those guys who have to have their elbow on the armrest when they drive lol.

Whatever you do, don't cut that off. It holds the whole thing together.
