    Bumper Tuck

much to the chagrin of Seany-Hood and Friar Foristell....Ive wanted to tuck the fugly bumper on the Rock for years!...In process.

One of the problems on 70s fords..the railroad tie that Father Federalee saddled us with for 5mph impacts.

Using at least one factory hole on each mount to the frame I was able to mock up a 3inch tuck and a 1.5 inch lift. Plastic Surgeon here I come.

Some trimming needed on the corner urethane cover pans...am thinking I will get away with no trimming on top metal pan. Pictures dont show just how much better it looks....much more aesthetically pleasing and still functional. Im 2 frame holes and some paint away from a permanent mounting.

To each his own, totally. But for this each, blah. And the black bezel treatment. Blah. Not a knock on the Rock at all. Just my humble opining. However, you've done splendid work, you love the thing, and it looks great in white.

i kinda flip flop on the bezel treatment myself...the chrome was just so shoddy I figured I'd copy the mustang bucket treatment...if I ever hit up on a pair of NOS that might change...but ...might not...and Im unanimous in this!;)

If you're a-gonna black out some of the chrome, go all the way. Bumper too. Perfect opportunity. And I think it would look rotten if you did. But better than being all half and half and stuff. Don't be such a waffler, man! Sack up!! Take a stand, git r done!

yeah i know...its an exercise in design and way more fabbing than Im used to doing...not really my strongpoint...actually Im thinking once this tuck is done and one or two other little tweaks I may actually start stripping the thing down for paint! Dont hold your breath tho, whats another 10 years of slow progress? :p and yeah...definitely staying with White despite the war departments hatred of that color.

I meant paint the bumper black while you're tucking.

Gotta say HR... You've done a lot of great things to Rocky but the tuck is just not one of them. Yes, it's your truck not mine, but just sayin'.

    underbites need love too :D

whats really nasty is the mixture of rust, and 37 year old pine needles and leaves between the bumper and the reinforcement.....urgh....nothing you wanna touch without having antibacterial soap handy. Glad to be getting rid of all active rust if nothing else with some well placed paint.

too long to look like a junk barge. Actually quite unforgettable since I picked the old boy up on the evening of 911...not the greatest day to start a relationship. He has been about as reliable as you could ever hope for however.
