I have a 79 ranchero with a built up 400m powering it and I was wanting a tow hitch but don't know how to go about it. I can weld but not fabricate. Is there a universal or special hitch I should buy and if so where would I find it. I plan on towing mostly dirt bikes and occasionally a car built for rallyrallycross. Any help will be apressiated.
This is the unit you would be looking for. I got this one from a friend that had a 74 ranchero with a tow package.
You know, making one similar to that would not be all that hard. You'd probably have to make patterns with cardboard and tape, but I can see having one made up.
I Attached A photo of my tow hitch that I had installed back in 2002, it hides behind my license plate.. You'll notice that my gas tank is not currently installed, but it didn't have to be removed for the hitch to be installed. It has served me well. Another benefit to it is that it does not drag in driveways etc... Now for my Full Disclosure: the fold down license plate is off of a Chevy Monte Carlo. Don't judge me.... Lol
Check the local yards for ranchero hitch csmith.Just about every ranchero will have some type of hitch installed. Not sure where you are located, but there is a yard in Richfield that has old iron.Might get lucky.
Not mine. The PO I got it from wanted it and made its removal a condition of getting the car for free.
I bought many parts from this place over a two year period. You may want to try him out. He has 27 acres of cars piled three high. http://johnssalvagecompany.net/home/3645161
