Finally got my GT registered over here. Heres some pics from its first outing........ Imported by myself about 3 months ago from California. Its a 1974 400 cubic inch. Certainly gets some attention around here.
Cheers.....Maybe just local shows and beach runs for now. Few little niggles to sort first, before we start roadtrippin'. Ignition module has barfed at some point, so I need to sort that, plus the kick down doesn't work. Oh, or speedo too......But nothing major so far.......
I pay £1.09 per litre....... works out about 5 1/2 usd a gallon..........so road trips can get expensive.........
His wife/girlfriend passed away, and he lost his zeal for the Chero and the site. Last I head he'd bought a Mustang from someone here and sold the UK RANCHERO.
I was just thinking after looking at your pictures that maybe as close as you are to that salty air that it might be a good idea idea to undercoat and do a spray in bed liner.
A good dose of Waxoyl is high on the list, luckily the car lives about 10 miles from the coast......of more concern is the amount salt the local highways department throw over the roads every winter. Being a California car there's a definate lack of rust prevention!
Waxoyl, that's funny, seems to be a well used product across the pond. I used brush on bedliner to seal the 61 Bugeye Sprite. I know that over there that they refer to them as Frogeyes, ( difference in the placement of the steering wheel). Used both but the bedliner seems to be impervious to the elements.
Ah......I see, you mean Bedliner underneath, have never thought of that! Luckily I have access to a two post ramp, and airline at a mates workshop, so application is easier. I use waxoyl on my Kombi, good stuff, but does need to be reapplicated fairly regularly.......
