I saw this distributor setup on a Shelby Mustang at a car show; it looks like it's an old flathead 'crab' dizzy, maybe run off a chain or belt from the front cover (?).

Anyone know anything about this setup?

Belt driven dizzy? I've seen them in some race motor setups at car shows as well. Usually see em on 'vettes

It looks like a copy of Chevrolet's Opti-Spark setup. I've never liked Opti-Spark, or the Vortec plastic distributors, except for one thing: how the cap keeps the wires neat. Takes the guesswork out of which wire's on what tower. Downside to the upside: the caps eventually burn through from one contact run to another, causing a cross-firing misfire.
